Liondance tour Katendrecht 2019

On Sunday 10 February a lion dance parade was provided in Katendrecht Rotterdam by the Shinji lion dance team. Unfortunately, the day started with heavy rain, which made the turnout of the public disappointing. The parade continued with enthusiasm!

To inaugurate the Chinese New Year, a number of lettuce ceremonies were held in various locations. The first ceremony started at the Verhalenhuis Belvédère. In the afternoon a New Year's fondue was held for the residents of Katendrecht. After a spectacular ceremony of three lions, they continued with a primary school class who had made a homemade dragon especially for the Chinese New Year to the Cape Fish Room. The yellow lion opened the ceremony in the restaurant where fresh fish is served daily. The restaurant was soon surrounded by a large crowd trying to catch a glimpse of the lions. The Vislokaal was back after the ceremony
blessed with the head of lettuce that had been scattered across the restaurant by the lion.

The lions continued their procession in the rain to the New York Hotel, where they could catch their breath. The restaurant MOOD by Eveline Wu was the next destination for the lions. The mood in the restaurant was already good because of the DJ and the dancing guests. The lion dance performance enhanced this, leaving the guests watching the performance with a big smile. The day ended with a performance at the Foodhallen, where the lunchtime visitors could enjoy a live lion dance performance. The lions had created a very festive atmosphere through the interaction they had with the guests at the tables. Despite the torrential rain it was a beautiful day!
